The Cultural Re-Use Research Collaborative (CR-URC) is a group of artists, academics and community workers. We are interested in interdisciplinary work that concerns both the study of and the practice of cultural re-use and re-generation in urban and rural environments.

We are fascinated by the ways people inventively re-invigorate existing materials and ideas. The rubric of cultural re-use and re-generation is loosely interpreted in order to be inclusive and wide-ranging, but focuses on issues relating to the ways objects, traditions, histories, and neighbourhoods are creatively utilized in novel ways (recycled, reinterpreted, reincorporated, re-purposed, reinvented, repaired).

CR-URC is structured around a model of inquiry that makes use of both "collective" and "collaborative" modes of investigation and organizational governance. Our members have incorporated the practice of reuse in university teaching, artistic practice, research and community development. We are interested in further interdisciplinary collaboration worldwide.
