Lost and Found
Initiated in 2000 this installation comprises two parts: a physical installation of found objects collected from the streets of urban areas and a web based project that combines maps of the urban areas, showing the routes walked and a series of photographs of 'points of interest'
found during the walks. These might be places indicated by consultation with the public or just things noticed on route.
The objects have been exhibited several times most recently at the
Bonington Gallery Nottingham. The objects are arranged across the floor of the space and are most often read as being a city scape; each object can be construed as a building or structure within this city but with each interpretation the sense of scale has to alter.
In A+B = CC (an) a title which refers to the closing of two galleries
to be replaced by one larger one in Nottingham, the seemingly random
shape of the installation is derived from a walking route between the
three sites in question(Bonington Gallery, Angel Row Gallery and the
soon to be Centre for contemporary Art Nottingham). Curiously once plotted onto a map the shape was recognised as being very similar to that of the county of Nottinghamshire, because of this the route was altered slightly to enable conformity with both map scales.
The collection of objects has continued to expand over the years
with new objects being added at regular intervals. It is fully intended to do an inventory of the objects soon and to photograph each with view of putting on line. For additional information please contact Paul Matosic: matosic@ic24.net
